About Us

Mission Statement

JSAUR’s mission is to create an academic publishing platform that empowers high school and undergraduate students to share their research without the barriers typically associated with traditional journals. Our vision is to establish a universally accessible, free-to-publish journal that sets a new standard for inclusivity in the academic world while bringing out a high-level of academic quality and practices among student researchers.

What is JSAUR?

The Journal of Secondary and Undergraduate Research (abbreviated to JSAUR) is a registered non-profit under the Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporations Act. It is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal and the first platform for students to publish their research at no cost.

JSAUR currently publishes research six different fields of study: natural sciences, social sciences, engineering and technology, health and medicine, economics, and humanities. Work from students come from various opportunities, from personal or mentor-supervised research to science fair projects or classroom projects (such as AP research).

The current publishing process requires students submit their manuscripts through a public form. These submissions are reviewed by other student researchers and screened by JSAUR. Upon approval, the research is published in our publications section. For additional information on the publication process, check our author resources.

The Road to Decentralization

Beyond our role as a “typical” research journal. JSAUR is on a pioneering path to become the world’s first Web 3.0 academic journal. While the website currently functions with moderation and other back-end processes, the vision is to evolve into a self-sustaining platform. This transition will enable JSAUR to use decentralized technologies such as consensus mechanisms and smart contracts to enhance the transparency, security, and efficiency of the publication process. You can read more about these methods in How it Works or in depth in our whitepaper.

We recognize that navigating the complexities of Web 3.0 technology is no small feat. We are actively seeking support and collaboration from experts and enthusiasts in the blockchain and decentralized technology communities who share our vision for a new era of academic publishing. If you are qualified share JSAUR’s vision, we invite you to reach out to us here. Your expertise could be crucial in helping us achieve this ambitious goal.
